Quality Turf Adds to Street Appeal

Posted on May 19, 2019 by Greg Pelka

Surveys suggests that about half of potential buyers of property would try to negotiate a price reduction if it looked unappealing from the street. Those surveyed said that the decision whether they liked a property from the outside was largely dependent on a neat and tidy house. Gardens and lawns add value, which can see the price increase as much as 10 percent.

Street appeal is real-estate terminology for the appeal a property presents to potential buyers when viewed from the street. According to a number of surveys carried out over the past 12 months, there is a definite correlation between the first-impressions and the value of a property as perceived by a prospective buyer.

The survey findings released earlier this year from the comparison website finder.com.au, suggests that nine-out-of-10 Australians would offer below a property’s asking price if the exterior of the property was not appealing – with house hunters offering 17 percent on-average below the asking price, if the prospect was dissatisfied with the property from the outside.

The survey of some two-thousand homeowners found that people typically take just 10 seconds to decide whether they liked a property from its external appearance. When compared to complicated indoor renovations, laying down a lush, neat lawn is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to increase your property’s desirability for prospective buyers.

For potential buyers, it’s all about falling in love with a new home. Seemingly simple factors, such as having a green lawn will go a long way in helping them make a connection with your property. Additionally, a green lawn can provide a welcoming space for family activities or entertainment, allowing prospective buyers to better visualise your property as their 'future home'.

Getting it right…

Sir Grange Zoysia is an excellent choice – originally developed for the golfing industry for golfing greens, it was quickly discovered that its characteristics also made for an amazing home lawn.

With its fine bladed leaf, it has exceptional shade and drought tolerance, low thatch and high traffic tolerance that grows in a beautiful deep green colour all year-round.
