Spring is here! Time to renovate your lawn.

Posted on October 3, 2022 by Greg Pelka

When it comes to lawn care, spring is the perfect time for a fresh start. Over the winter, your lawn has been dormant, so now is the time to give it the attention it needs to thrive. A little lawn renovation can go a long way in making your yard the envy of the neighborhood. Here are a 3 easy tips to get you started.

1. Lawn Aeration

Lawn aeration is the process of perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps the roots grow deeper and stronger, leading to a healthier lawn. Aeration also reduces compaction and thatch, two common problems that can lead to a thin, weak lawn.

2. Lawn Fertilisation

Lawn fertilisation is the process of applying nutrients to your lawn to encourage growth. A healthy lawn is vital to the appearance of your home, and can also provide a great space for entertaining and relaxing. Fertilising your lawn will ensure it stays looking its best, and can also help to prevent problems such as moss and bare patches.

3. Lawn Scarifying

Lawn scarifying is the process of removing thatch and dead grass from your lawn. This is done with a power scarifier, which has spinning blades that cut through the thatch and dead grass, removing it from the lawn. Scarifying also helps to aerate the lawn, which allows water, air and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, lawn aerating is the act of perforating your lawn with holes, allowing air, water, and nutrients to reach the root system of the grass. Lawn aeration is recommended every 2-4 years and every spring. Lawn scarifying is the removal of thatch and dead grass. Lawn scarifying is also recommended every 2-3 years.
