Backyard gardening must-haves for your lawn this winter

Posted on June 19, 2020 by Ashlee Hall

Just because the weather has cooled down doesn’t mean that the maintenance of your lawn and gardens should stop. Some jobs may be better suited to the warmer months, but regular support and garden upkeep is essential for prolonged preservation of a healthy and vibrant backyard. Below is a list of top tools and tips to keep your green thumb busy in the winter months.

Weed Puller

No one really enjoys getting down on their hands and knees to pull every last little weed from their lawn and garden. A good weed puller is as sound of an investment the budding garden enthusiast can purchase. Simply push it on top of the weeds and the claws will pull it out for you, roots and all. Keep the annoying weeds at bay, save your back, and make weeding a much more enjoyable process. Seems like a no-brainer to most!

Lawn Aerator

Winter is a great time to start prepping your lawn for the rest of the year. One of the most effective ways to do that is by aerating your lawn. Manual aerators are a simple and effective way to give your lawn some love that won't break the bank. They can even come as aeration sandals so you and the kids can work as you walk! The big spender might look at an aerator machine, however there is nothing wrong with a little bit of manual labour to keep the hands busy.

Leaf Blower

Behind weeding, raking leaves and garden debris is the bane of many a gardener's existence. Ranging from hyper powerful petrol blowers to pocket-sized battery powered machines, there is a blower for every garden, and the time and energy saved when using it to tidy is impossible to undersell. Beat the autumnal leaf-pocalypse with a bit more style and efficiency than the old garden rake.
