This is a game that is best suited to a sloping section of lawn, but it is a classic and well-known pastime for many. Slip and slides can be set up at any time of year, but late spring to early autumn is best. You can purchase one at many stores and online, however you can also make your own using a series of tarpaulins strung together with a sprinkler on top. Be super careful though, and also supervise children and adults alike – you don’t want anyone injuring themselves.
Build your own jenga set with some old wood and make it as big as possible. Stack, then play. Remember though, you should definitely scatter when the tower tumbles down – you don’t want to get hit by any pieces as they fall!
If you are looking for something that takes a little less set-up time, how about considering a nice game of bocce? By no means only for the older members of your family, bocce is an awesome game that can be played by all ages.
Just like the smaller version of the game, it involves throwing balls into cups (or, in this case, buckets) – but excluding the beer of course.
Lawn Twister involves painting your lawn with different coloured spots, so your yard looks just like a Twister game board. If you are not so keen on putting paint on your lawn, consider using coloured plastic or paper plates instead.
If you are a DIY lover, this is another project you will likely enjoy. Create large dominoes pieces out of wood – or really any material you would like and/or have lying around – and supersize everything. If you would like to make it super easy, create your own dimensions and buy pre-cut materials, so all you have to do is add the dots!
Last, but certainly not least, is Connect Four. If you can see a theme running here, you are right – build a game in your yard, and your family will come out and play! Again, if you are a lover of DIY, show off your dovetail joint skills and create a large four in a row game. If you want to get whole family involved, get everyone to paint a set of discs their own distinct colour – makes it more exciting for all.
